Blair Zajac's Ph.D. Thesis and Published Research Papers

My thesis focused on determining the state of stress in localized regions in the earth from borehole breakouts measured in non-vertically drilled oil wells.

There are two documents available for download.

1. Ph.D. Thesis

   "The State of Stress as Inferred from Deviated Boreholes: Constraints on the Tectonics of Offshore Central California and Cook Inlet, Alaska".

   It contains an updated version of my first published paper listed below.

2. J.G.R. published paper

   "Using Borehole Breakouts to Constrain the Complete Stress Tensor: Results from the Sijan Deep Drilling Project and offshore Santa Maria Basin, California" by Blair J. Zajac and Joann M. Stock.

   This was published in the Journal of Geophysical Research. The first page of the paper contains an abstract of the paper, in case you want to see what the paper is about without downloading the whole thing. Unfortunately, latex2html was unable to sucessfully generate HTML pages from the LaTeX source file that produced this paper, so the only available format is PostScript.
