Definitely in the eye of the beholder.  I do crypto for a living, and the 
31-bit ints are a pain in my ass -- it means I end up dropping to C far 
more often than I would like to.  On the other hand, I could care less 
about the size limits of strings and arrays -- I've never once come close 
to reaching them.
