Hello ORCA-users;

This is an excellent tool. I have installed, configured (to a point), and
even generated webpages with this tool. It seems a perfect fit for an
application I and my students are working on here at Cleveland Heights HS.
However, I have a couple of (green-horn, novice, etc) questions.

1. I have a weather station that is queried every 1 minute. Every 5
minutes wind speed and wind direction are "averaged" and the whole lot is
logged to a text file. (see below)

"system time" ,"time" ,"date" ,"temperature outside" ,"temperature inside"
,"wind chill" ,"relative humidty" ,"barometer" ,"rainfall" ,"heating degree
days" ,"cooling degree days" ,"wind direction 1" ,"wind direction 2" ,"wind
direction 3" ,"wind direction 4" ,"wind direction 5" ,"wind speed 1" ,"wind
speed 2" ,"wind speed 3" ,"wind speed 4" ,"wind speed 5" ,"final wind
direciton" ,"average wind speed"

I know ORCA does not like spaces in the first line nor quotes or commas, but
even after removing these extraneous bits I cannot get ORCA to read my data.
Graphs are generated but the values appear to be zeros.

my configuration file (weather.config) looks like this:

As you can see I have tried naming the columns myself, as well as trying to
use (a cleaned up version) the first_line.
Again, graphs are produced but no trace is obvious.

errors include the statements that values in the columns are not numeric (eg
10/24 not numeric, but it should be a date as either %m/%d or I even tried
%2m/%2d ;-).

ORCE DOES recognize new files as they are generated (every midnight a new
data file is generated of the form yyyymmdd.log) and ORCA sees and tries to
process it. NO LUCK.

Am I am missing something obvious? Have I chosen the wrong tool? I saw
were Blair had plotted the Humidity in Budapest. This is my goal as well.

2. Since each day is a new log file WEEKLY, MONTHLY, etc are not valuable.
How do I turn them off?

3. I am using a pentium 120 running Linux 5.2 and using ORCA 0.25 with
rrdtool_13. How can I use ORCALLATOR.SE to capture networking statistics
for my classroom, high school, and ultimately my school district and make
the plots available to my CISCO CCNA course? Any suggestions?

I really like ORCA, but if I am missing the mark perhaps you could direct me
to a more appropriate tool. I recognize that these may be obvious questions
to YOU (collective you) but I need to be productive immediately and could
use some guidance. Bye for now...
