Uninstall Perl 5 that comes with solaris 8 (its bound to a crippled cc).
Install Perl 5.6.0, then orca will install fine.
If you want the history, read back about 10 posts ago. In the end, even with
our cheating hacks to make it compile, it still ended up not working, until
we torched the solaris perl. And I still don't think orca works right with
the latest perl (5.6.1 or .2 I forget).

Subject: [orca-users] Perl Packages
For some wierd reason, I can't seem to get the Perl Modules that come
bundled with Orca 0.26 to compile.
Here is the tail end of the message:
cc -c -g -O2 -DVERSION=\"1.00\" -DXS_VERSION=\"1.00\" -KPIC
-I/usr/perl5/
5.00503/sun4-solaris/CORE MD2.c
sh: cc: not found
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `MD2.o'
Current working directory /tmp/orca-0.26/packages/Digest-MD5-2.09/MD2
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `subdirs'
Current working directory /tmp/orca-0.26/packages/Digest-MD5-2.09
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `make_digest_md5'
I have Solaris 8 installed. I don't have cc installed. I have GCC
installed in /opt/gcc. I'm guessing perl is configured to use cc as a
compiler.
To make a long story short. I'm wondering if someone might have the perl
modules compiled in cc form
Thanks
Karl
