Given that you're asking for help, a greeting and listing your
name is considered polite netiquette, in addition to giving
some information, such as the OS you're running, etc, would be
nice.
I'm guessing you're using the Perl that came with your Solaris
system and you also have the cc that came with the OS which
actually doesn't compile anything.
Get the Solaris binary Perl package from
http://www.activestate.com/Products/Download/Download.plex?id=ActivePerl
and use that. It's compiled with gcc and it'll work fine.
