Hi, Johan:
I have been using HP-UX for a while, but I have to admit that I'm not familiar with the Event Monitoring Service (EMS) at all. GlancePlus and MeasureWare are the predominant tools we use. I'll try out your script shortly. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks a lot for the info.

Thanks for the update Sean.

Umm... this kind of shows that the subversion is nice, but not readily 'usable' for everyone. I noticed no feedback to my svn testing that is still failing. So maybe the perioidic tarball of the current state of Orca would be a good idea.

The subversion path is for folks who want to get what's cooking. I didn't
have time to think about your subversion problem but I could help you
possibly. I have a subversion repos here at home myself. I could work
with you off-list to see if we could figure out what's going on as you poke
at my respository. Let me know if you are interested.

I'm sure Blair will still produce the usual 0.28-and-on-and-on tarballs for
general consumption.

Hi,

I am quite new to Orca and rrd tools so please bear with me.

The question I have is:

- How do I make my data more granular? E.g. If I want to change the
interval of plots to 1 min, how can we do it? I tried changing
olcollator.se (on all clients) and orcollator.cfg (on server) to
Interval=60, but that did not seem to come into effect on the plots. Am
I missing something? I have restarted all my orca processes too on all
my clients as well as my hosts.

Regds,

Deepak

You also have to stop Orca, delete all your RRD files and restart
Orca. Once an RRD file is created, it's time interval is set.

Best,
Blair

Hi Willson.

You wrote:

Indeed, I'm using orca to graph my HPUX stats. There's no proc fs to work
with so I set up my own script to collect data. It's certainly not as
extensive as the SE Toolkit data, but it gets me what I need for now. I fill
a logfile using this script and then ftp it over to a linux box where I've
got orca running. As you'll notice I'm mainly interested in monitoring
kernel parameters for now. Working on uptime, etc. Network stats should be
pretty easy to add as well. Hope to add in some more as I go along.
Learning from this list and the excellent orca solaris and linux scripts.

Ps. If your're running HPUX 11.0 there's a patch that allow you to use the
resls -s parameter. Check the ITRC forums for the required patch. Or I'll
mail you details if you like.

Cheers,
Johan

Warning: a bad attempt at programming follows. Look away or cringe in
horror:
