[Orca-users] ORCA and Solaris 10

If you already have a Linux box with all the stuff compiled you can use it with some tweaks to process the files collected from the other hosts, even solaris ones.
If you do this you, do not need to compile rrd tool on the solaris boxes, just install RICHPse, orcallator.se and some way to quickly and automatically send the files to the orca host --- personally I always have used rsync.
You´ll have to start a second instance of orca on the linux box using solaris orcallator.cfg instead procallator.cfg and, of course, using diferent pathnames on the cfg (for collected files, rrd files and html) so the files are not mangled in some odd way.
If you prefer use one the solaris boxes as server you can also -- aside trying to compile a newer version of rrdtool -- download a precompiled one. You can find one in (http://www.sunfreeware.com):
ftp://ftp.sunfreeware.com/pub/freeware/sparc/10/rrdtool-1.2.19-sol10-sparc-local.gz
ftp://ftp.sunfreeware.com/pub/freeware/SOURCES/rrdtool-1.2.19.tar.gz (source code)
The version 1.0.50 is somewhat old, so its not surprising that it has issues when trying to compile on Solaris 10 (and probably the porting it is going the take some effort). I recall having used version 1.2.something the past with no problem.

Subject: [Orca-users] ORCA and Solaris 10
Hello!
First: Orca is fantastic. I got it running
on LINUX on first try ( I followed an article written by Kenneth Hess,
under Linux-Magizine.com)
Second: But as I have to administrate
more the 15 Solaris Boxes, I would like to use orca there aswell.
And now I need some help.
- I downloaded RICHPse-3.4 and installed
it successful
- I have graped the latest shnapshot
from ORCA (orca-snapshot-r529)
configure -with-html-dir=mypath
run without any errors
make (check) failed.
