More accurately, it probably didn't remove an extra slash at some
point -- either typed manually, or generated by some utility.  If it
happens again, and you can capture the exact sequence of steps used to
create the branch and call 'svnmerge init', post them back to the list
and we'll see if we can replicate it.

Anyway, I'm glad it's worked out for now.
