I really don't know why it is behaving this way on my system. Anyhow, here is what I've changed in start_orcallator (Near the end):
Changed:
$SE $LE_PATCH -DWATCH_OS $WATCH_WEB $libdir/orcallator.se &
For:
nohup > /dev/null $SE $LE_PATCH -DWATCH_OS $WATCH_WEB $libdir/orcallator.se &
Also, you'll find that I posted quite a bit of questions/problems regarding ORCA on the mailing list. One of them was related to the fact that start_orcallator and stop_orcallator were giving errors with nawk. I think I nailed it down to the use of the 'hide' program here. This program hides command line arguments from ps output (In this way the users cannot see some usernames/password given to oracle tools on the command line)
This program does so by prepending the arguments with a long string of space characters. This long string probably is too long for the nawk buffer... Anyway, this is minor.

I've never needed a nohup. Send me the little patch and I can include
it in the next release of Orca so it does work everywhere.
Thanks,
