Orca supports Perl 5.005_03 and later.  5.005_03 is pretty old, so  
hopefully, you should be good.  You also don't need the latest  
version of gcc.

I would recommend using the latest version of SE supported for  
Solaris 8 and using the latest Orca snapshot available at

http://www.orcaware.com/orca/pub/snapshots/
